This document details how to embed Kaltura (My Media) videos in Canvas pages, assignments, discussions, quizzes, and announcements with the Rich Content Editor.

Kaltura (referred to as "My Media" in Canvas) is the video portal for instructors, students, and staff across the University of Wisconsin System. Instructors, students, and staff can use Kaltura to easily upload, store, stream, and share (or restrict) videos. Once you have uploaded videos to Kaltura (My Media) you can embed them in Canvas pages, assignments, discussions, quizzes, and announcements with the Rich Content Editor.
- Navigate to an editable Canvas page, a discussion, an assignment that allows text entry submissions, etc., and select the Edit button with the pencil icon, the Reply button for discussion posts, or the Start Assignment button to open the Rich Content Editor.
- In the Rich Content Editor, click the Embed Kaltura Media (rainbow flower) button in the toolbar. If you do not see this button in the toolbar, first click the More... button (three stacked dots) to reveal additional toolbar buttons, then click the Embed Kaltura Media button.
- A window with your Kaltura (My Media) library will open. Use the search bar and filters to find the entry for the video you want to insert. Click the </> Embed button next to the video to embed the video with default settings or click the gear-shaped "Embed Settings" icon to use advanced video embed options.
- Your video should appear in the text box of the Rich Content Editor. Select Save, Post Reply, or Submit Assignment to save your work.
