Overview
This Microsoft Copilot Training – Fall 2024 session introduced UWGB staff to using Copilot across Microsoft 365 applications. We covered how Copilot can help with common tasks such as email drafting, document creation, and productivity workflows. Participants attended live sessions on October 29, 2024, and October 30, 2024, with identical content across both days.

- Go to office.com/chat to access Copilot and try entering in prompts.
- Sample Prompts:

- Draft a meal plan for the week based on a vegetarian diet.
- Plan a weekend trip itinerary to Door County, Wisconsin.
- Brainstorm gift ideas for a coworker’s retirement party.
- Write a short email invitation to a movie night.
- Create a workout routine for someone new to fitness.

Q&A
- What AI tools should I use?
- Use Microsoft Office Copilot via office.com/chat because it has enterprise-level data protection. No other AI tools are currently approved for use at UWGB.
- What kind of tasks work best with Copilot?
- Copilot excels at generating drafts for emails, documents, summaries, lists, and schedules. It is especially useful for routine and repetitive tasks.
- What if Copilot produces incorrect or irrelevant results?
- AI tools like Copilot are designed to assist but may not always be perfect. Review all AI-generated content carefully before using it.
- What is considered sensitive data?
- Sensitive data includes any information classified as high-risk, such as personal identifiable information (PII), health information, or financial records. For detailed guidance on what qualifies as sensitive data, see the Sensitive Data Classification KB article.
- Can AI tools be used in classrooms or teaching?
- Reach out to the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) for guidance on using AI in instructional settings.
- What should I do if sensitive data is accidentally entered into Copilot?
- Contact GBIT immediately. We will work with the security team to address the issue promptly.
- Am I required to use Copilot?
- No. UWGB policy states that no one is required to use AI tools.
- What if I need help accessing Copilot?
- Contact the GBIT Service Desk for assistance with logging in or technical issues.
- What if I have more questions about using AI tools?
- Does our version of Copilot integrate with Microsoft Office?
- The version of Copilot we have at UWGB does not integrate directly with Office applications like Word or Excel. While some versions do, this feature is not included in our current license.
- Will AI tools like Copilot replace my role?
- No. AI tools are intended to assist, not replace. They help with repetitive tasks, giving you more time to focus on higher-value work.
