Using Local Computer Resources through Remote Desktop Connection

This document outlines how to use your computer's local resources through Remote Desktop Connection.

Body

Webcam:

1. Use the Windows search bar to locate Remote Desktop Connection.

2. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

3. In Remote Desktop Connection, type in your GB number (if it isn't already filled) and select Show Options.

4. Under Options, go to the Local Resources tab.

5. Under Local Resources, select More...

6. Under More..., expand the Video capture devices by selecting the + to the left.

7. Select the device(s) you wish to use and press OK.

8. To finish, press Connect.


Multiple Monitors:

1. Use the Windows search bar to locate Remote Desktop Connection.

 

2. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

 

3. In Remote Desktop Connection, type in your GB number (if it isn't already filled) and select Show Options.

4. Under Options, go to the Display tab.

5. Press the checkbox next to Use all my monitors for the remote session and then press Connect.


Audio:

1. Use the Windows search bar to locate Remote Desktop Connection.

 

2. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

 

3. In Remote Desktop Connection, type in your GB number (if it isn't already filled) and select Show Options.

 

4. Under Options, go to the Local Resources tab.

5. Under the Remote audio section, press Settings.

 

6. Make sure the option labeled Play on this computer is selected and make sure Record from this computer is selected. Then select OK.

 

7. Go back to the General tab on the top of the menu.

8. Input your GB number into the computer field if it isn't already filled and press Connect.

 

9. You will be connected to your office computer. Test the audio to make sure it is working correctly.


Local Drives:

1. Use the Windows search bar to locate Remote Desktop Connection.

 

2. Select Remote Desktop Connection.

 

3. In Remote Desktop Connection, type in your GB number (if it isn't already filled) and select Show Options.

 

4. Under Options, go to the Local Resources tab.

5. Under Local Resources, press More...

 

6. Under More..., expand the Drives by pressing the + to the left.

 

7. Select the drives you wish to access and press OK.

 

8. To finish, press Connect.
