Remote Lab - Connecting with the Splashtop On-Prem Client

Installing the On-Prem Client

Download and Install

1. Log into the Splashtop Remote Lab Portal or follow the instructions in this KB article (Remote Lab - How to Log In to Splashtop).

2. On the "My Computers" screen, click the On-Prem Client button. (Note: click any image in this KB to enlarge.)

3. Select your operating system and click Download.

4. Run the installer. Keep all default options.

5. The Splashtop Client will open automatically once installed.

Connecting with the On-Prem Client

Sign In

1. Open the Splashtop Client.

2. Click “Single Sign-On login” at the bottom of the screen. (Note: click any image in this KB to enlarge.)

3. In the first box, type remote.uwgb.edu.

4. In the second box, type your UWGB email address.

5. You will be redirected to sign in with your UWGB credentials in a web browser.

6. After logging in, you’ll see a confirmation screen. Return to the Splashtop client to proceed.

Select a Computer

7. A list of available computers will appear. You can either:

  • Click the blue connection button at the top of the group to automatically connect to any available computer

  • Select a specific computer and click the connect button.

Using the Computer

10. After connecting, sign in with your UWGB credentials. You can now use the lab computer as if you were on campus.

11. When you're done, click the Disconnect button at the top of the Splashtop window. We recommend signing out of the computer before disconnecting. Your account will be logged out automatically if you forget.

Common Errors

12. If a computer is already in use, you will see this icon on the PC:

13. If you try to connect to an in-use computer, you’ll see this message:

If this happens, either choose a different computer or use the blue connection button to connect to any available machine.

Changing the Resolution

Edit Resolution Settings

1. Resolution settings can only be changed when using the installed Splashtop client (not the web browser version).

2. Select the computer and click the Settings icon (gear). (Note: click any image in this KB to enlarge.)

3. Go to the Connection Options tab.

4. From the Resolution dropdown, select the preferred screen size.
