PyCharm - Pro License Activation

Summary

UWGB has a number of PyCharm Pro licenses available for academic use. This article explains how to activate the Pro license on a computer with PyCharm. If you need PyCharm installed on a campus computer, please contact the GBIT Service Desk.

Body

UWGB users may log into PyCharm using their campus credentials to activate Pro licensing for academic use.  

Note: This activation only applies to the user currently logged into a lab computer.  It is recommended to use the same lab computer for each class to reduce the need to go through this process. 

  1. Open PyCharm from the Start Menu.
  2. Click on the Menu button (icon with four stacked horizontal lines).

  3. Click Help menu and select Manage Subscriptions.

  4. Click on License Server and type in the following for Server Address:
    https://uwgb.fls.jetbrains.com

  5. Click the Activate button. 
  6. A browser will open with campus SSO.  Sign in with your campus email, password, and MFA.

  7. It will bring you to a page asking for access to the License Vault service.  Click the Accept button.

  8. Browser will say when you can close it.
  9. Managed Subscriptions window should now say activated with a Pro license for University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.  If not, click the Activate button again and it should activate immediately.
