Accessing Akindi

To access Akindi, you first need to enable the "Launch Akindi" link in the course navigation menu of the Canvas course in which you want use Akindi to administer exams.

Step-by-step instructions on enabling Akindi in your Canvas course can be found in the following video and in this Akindi Help Center article: Getting Started with Akindi through Canvas.

After you have enabled the "Launch Akindi" link in your Canvas course navigation menu, select it whenever you need to access Akindi.

NOTE: If you encounter a "refused to connect" error when launching Akindi, make sure the URL in your browser's address bar begins with "https://uwgby.instructure.com" and not "uws.instructure.com" or another university's vanity URL. To resolve this issue, reopen Canvas from the UWGB Canvas Login page, go to your course, and then select Launch Akindi.

Creating an Assessment

After launching Akindi, you can select the Create Assessment button in the top-right corner to begin creating a new paper assessment. You can build questions from scratch in Akindi, or import questions from a Word document which contains your questions and answer choices. On your Word document, the correct answer can be bold, marked with an asterisk, or highlighted. For step-by-step instructions, please reference the following articles on the Akindi Help Center and the following video:

Administering an Exam

You can print bubble sheets on white paper using any printer (see Printing Bubble Sheets for details).

Students can use pencil, blue or black pen, marker, or anything else that will make a dark mark to fill out their bubble sheets.

Important: When administering your exam, instruct students to fill in their 7-digit student ID number in the "Student Number" field of the bubble sheets. The rightmost three columns in the "Student Number" field should be left blank with no bubble filled in. Students can find their ID number by looking at the last 7 digits of the longer ID number printed on their UWGB Student ID card or can look it up in SIS by following these steps:

  1. Log in to SIS
  2. Select Other Academic from the drop down box
  3. Select Transcript: View Unofficial
  4. Select Report Type: Unofficial Transcript
  5. Look for Student ID (your 7-digit Student ID)

Grading Bubble Sheets

After collecting the bubble sheets from your students, you can use any scanner with a document feeder to scan the test sheets into a single multi-page PDF file. The Ricoh printer/scanner/copier machines found in UWGB offices can do this scanning and send the file to your UWGB email address.

Step-by-step instructions on how to upload scanned bubble sheets to Akindi, how to fix grading issues, and how to send grades to Canvas can be found in this Akindi Help Center article: Getting Started - Grading Bubble Sheets.
