Canvas - Course-Level Roles

Summary

This article describes the course-level roles available in Canvas when adding users to a course.

Body

Users who have the Teacher role in a Canvas course may add additional users to their Canvas course through the People page. When adding users, they can assign one of several course-level roles. To safeguard student data and prevent unintended changes to course content, instructors should assign roles that grant only the minimum permissions needed.

For a list of Canvas course-level roles and their associated permissions, please refer to the Universities of Wisconsin Digital Learning Environment KnowledgeBase article: Canvas - Course Level Roles Description.
