Microsoft Copilot - Logging In and Accessing

Overview

Microsoft Copilot is available to all UW-Green Bay faculty, staff, and students with enhanced data protection when signed in with a UWGB account. Copilot is Microsoft’s generative AI platform and can assist in generating written and visual content based on user prompts.

Copilot has access to current internet data, providing up-to-date responses, but responses may contain inaccuracies.

Unlike other commercial AI products, Copilot provides enterprise data protection and enhanced privacy when accessed while signed in with your UWGB account. Even when using Copilot, personally identifiable information (PII) and FERPA-protected data should never be entered into generative AI systems.

Logging In

Follow these steps to log in and access Microsoft Copilot:

  1. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge) and navigate to Copilot (www.office.com/chat/).

    1. Note: You can also access Copilot on mobile by using the Microsoft 365 app for iOS or Android.

  2. Enter your UWGB email address in the email field on the sign-in page and log in with your UWGB account and password.

  3. Once logged in, you will see the UWGB logo on the top left and a shield on the top right indicating that "Enterprise data protection applies to this chat."
