You can enable a shareable link for your Canvas showcase portfolio and use it to share it with anyone.
NOTE: Evidence that you create with the "Add assignment from course" option cannot be viewed by others when you share your portfolio with a public link. Because it cannot be shared, we do not recommend that you use the "Add assignment from course" option when adding evidence to a showcase portfolio. If you want to add an assignment submission from one of your courses to a showcase portfolio, use the "Create new evidence" option and manually upload your submission as a file to the evidence attachments.
Follow these steps to share your portfolio by shareable link:
Prerequisite: Publish Your Showcase Portfolio
Your showcase portfolio must be published before you can share it. If your portfolio has not yet been published and is currently in the "Draft" state, follow these steps to publish it:
- In Canvas, select Account > Portfolio to access the Canvas Portfolio tool.
- Select the Showcase tab and then select your portfolio.
NOTE: If you do not see your portfolios listed, please make sure that the URL in your browser's address bar begins with "https://uwgby.instructure.com" when you access Canvas Portfolio. The Canvas Portfolio tool is sensitive to the URL you are using when accessing it. You may not be able to access your portfolios if the URL begins with "https://uws.instructure.com" or anything else but "https://uwgby.instructure.com".
- Select the Edit button in the top right of the portfolio page.
- Select the Publish portfolio button in the top right of the edit portfolio page.
- Select the Publish portfolio button in the confirmation window.
How to Enable and Copy Your Portfolio's Shareable Link
- Navigate to your showcase portfolio (see steps 1-2 above).
- Select the Share button in the top right of the portfolio page.
- Enable the Allow anyone with the link to view setting.
- Select the Copy button next to the link field to copy the link to your clipboard.
The copied link can be pasted anywhere and will work for anyone who selects it.
How to Expire a Shareable Link to Revoke Access to Your Portfolio
Any of the following actions will expire your portfolio's shareable link so that it no longer works:
- Select the Regenerate link button in your portfolio's "Share" menu. This disables the existing link and creates a new shareable link.
- Disable the Allow anyone with the link to view setting in your portfolio's "Share" menu. This disables the existing link. If this setting is later re-enabled, a new shareable link gets generated.
- Edit your portfolio and select Save as draft. This unpublishes your portfolio and returns it to the "Draft" state. If you re-publish and share your portfolio later, a new shareable link gets generated.
If you expire the shareable link using any of the above methods, the expired link cannot be restored. You must generate a new shareable link and share the new link to re-share your portfolio.
