Account Setup Instructions for New Students

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Locate Your Username and Default Password
  • Your UW-Green Bay username/email address and default password are provided in your admission letter or the email notifying you of your Wings Portal access.
    • Your UWGB username typically follows this format:
      • First 4 letters of your last name + First initial + Middle initial + 2-digit day of your birth
        • Example: If your name is John Adam Smith, born on February 1, 2000, your username would be: smitja01@uwgb.edu
  1. Access the Email Login Page
  2. Log In with Default Credentials
    • Enter your UWGB username. You can include @uwgb.edu or omit it—both options will work.
    • Input the default password provided in your admission letter.

  3. Change Your Password
    • Upon logging in, you will be prompted to set a new password.
    • Password Requirements:

      • Must not exceed 49 characters.

      • NOTE: If your password does not meet these criteria, you will receive an error and need to adjust it before proceeding.

  4. Set Up Okta Verify
    • After creating your new password, you will be prompted to set up Okta Verify, UW-Green Bay’s multi-factor authentication (MFA) system.
    • For detailed instructions, visit the Okta Verify Setup Guide.

  5. Access UWGB Systems and Services
    • Once you’ve set up Okta Verify, your account is ready to use.
