About the AI Basics @ UW-Green Bay Course
The AI Basics @ UW-Green Bay Canvas course is a self-paced, introductory training for students, designed to build foundational knowledge about artificial intelligence and its use in higher education. The course is ideal for students who are unsure where to start with AI tools, want to learn about AI ethically and effectively, or need to complete an AI Basics requirement for a class.

How Faculty Can Assign the Course in Canvas
Faculty can easily include this training in their Canvas course by importing a prebuilt assignment from Canvas Commons. This assignment allows students to enroll in the AI Basics course and submit their completion certificate without affecting your course's structure.
Why Use the Assignment Template?
- The AI Basics content is maintained by GBIT, so you do not need to manage or update the training itself
- Students submit their course completion certificate for credit
- You control the point value and due date within your own course
- If a student has already completed the course, they can simply resubmit their badge URL
Steps to Add the Assignment to Your Course:
- Log in to Canvas
- Click “Commons” in the Canvas left menu
- In the search bar, type UWGB - AI Basics @ UW-Green Bay Course Assignment and select the result
- On the right, click “Import/Download”

What This Does:
This adds a standalone assignment to your Canvas course that directs students to the AI Basics @ UW-Green Bay training. Students will complete the course on a separate Canvas shell and submit their badge or certificate link back in your class. This setup ensures that GBIT can continue updating the AI Basics course over time without disrupting your course content.
