Account Name Change

The Account Name Change service allows staff and students to update their name across all university systems to ensure consistency. This process involves making changes to your personal information in the university’s systems and ensuring that your preferred name is reflected accurately across all platforms.

Description of Service:

To update your account name, please follow the instructions provided. This process will ensure your preferred name is displayed correctly in all university systems.

Request Guidelines:

To initiate an account name change, contact the appropriate department based on your role at the university.

Staff:

  1. Sign into MyUW.
  2. Launch the Personal Information app.
  3. Select "Name," then your current name.
  4. Edit the "Preferred Name" slot and select "Save" to update your name in all locations.
  5. Contact HR to switch your display name to your preferred name.

Students:

  1. Contact SSC (GBOSS) for assistance with changing your name.

NOTE: It may take one or two full days for the preferred name change to update everywhere.
