Requesting Drive Access

This service is designed to facilitate university staff in requesting access to specific network drives. The process requires supervisor approval and includes detailed steps for ensuring access is properly granted.

Description of Service

Requesting Access to Network Drives

Note: Supervisor approval is required for drive access requests. Supervisors can reply to the email or send GBIT an email requesting access for the employee. Alternatively, supervisors can fill out this form on behalf of the employee.

To request access to a drive, provide the following details:

  • Path of the drive
  • Drive letter

  • \\fpsa\gbit\servicedesk$ (G:)
  • O:\compserv$ on FPSA

Steps for Requesting Drive Access

  1. Gather the necessary drive details (path and drive letter).
  2. Obtain supervisor approval.
  3. Submit the drive access request form with the required information.
  4. Supervisors can reply to the confirmation email or send a separate email to GBIT.

Supervisor Approval

Supervisor approval is mandatory for processing the drive access request. Without this approval, the request cannot be completed.

How to Map the Drive

  • Once the drive access has been established, users can follow the instructions here: Drive Access Category.
  • Users can also call the GBIT Service Desk at (920) 465-2309 for remote assistance in mapping the drive.

  1. Fill out the request form with the path and drive letter.
  2. Submit the form for processing.
  3. Ensure supervisor approval is provided.
  4. GBIT Service Desk will map the drive or provide instructions for self-mapping.

Service Description
The Service Description field allows you to specify a custom synopsis for use when this service is being displayed in a list and the full body is not being shown. This field is the same as the Short Description.
This service allows university staff to request access to specific network drives. Supervisor approval is required.
Service Visibility
Indicates the lowest level of visibility of the service based on the user's sign-in status.

Note: This doesn't refer to the visibility of the form and doesn't change the actual visibility of the service. External should be the default visibility.
