Kaltura - Getting a Shareable Link for a My Media Video

Instructors, students, and staff can create and upload videos to the Kaltura My Media service, which can be accessed both within Canvas or on the Universities of Wisconsin Mediaspace website. These videos can be shared with anyone by copying a shareable link from Canvas or the Universities of Wisconsin Mediaspace.

Method 1: Get a shareable link from My Media in Canvas

  1. Log in to Canvas from https://www.uwgb.edu/canvas.
     
  2. Select "Account > My Media" in the Canvas Global Navigation Menu to open your My Media library.


     
  3. Select the title of the video you wish to share to open that video's media page.


     
  4. Select the Play button at the center of the video player to begin playing the video and reveal additional controls.


     
  5. In the top-right corner of the video player, select the Share icon.


     
  6. Select the Copy URL icon that is next to the link in the Share menu to copy the shareable link to your device's clipboard.


     
  7. You can paste the share link anywhere to share it. The link will work for anyone.

Method 2: Get a shareable link from the Universities of Wisconsin Mediaspace

  1. Navigate to the Universities of Wisconsin Mediaspace site at https://mediaspace.wisconsin.edu.
     
  2. Sign in to your account:
     
    1. On the top-right of the page, select "Guest > Login."
    2. Select "UW-Green Bay" as your organization and select "Go."
    3. Enter your UWGB username and password then select "Login."
       
  3. On the top-right of the page, select "your name > My Media" to open a list of your My Media videos.


     
  4. Select the title of the video you wish to share to open that video's media page.


     
  5. Change the media page's publishing status to "Unlisted":
     
    1. Under the video player, select "ACTIONS > Publish."


       
    2. Under Publishing Status, select "Unlisted - Media page will be visible to anyone with a link to the page."
    3. Select the "Save" button.


       
  6. Under the video player, select "Share" then right-click and "Copy" the link underneath Link to Media Page.


     
  7. You can paste the link anywhere to share it. The link will work for anyone.
